Founder & CEO
Nick Gu holds a PhD in AI & Neuroscience from LMU Munich and is developing the Agentic Engineering curriculum for Columbia University, where he will teach starting Fall 2026. He serves on the Columbia Alumni Association’s Career & Networking Committee.
He started Hervald because he saw the same pattern everywhere: organizations excited about AI agents, but most deployments failing in production. The gap was not intelligence — it was operations.
So he built the operational layer: Hervald, a control plane for AI agent workforces. He runs it in production every day. He also founded Pioneering Minds AI, a nonprofit practitioner community in New York City — whose website is itself built and operated by Hervald agents.
Alex Yang
Co-Owner
Alex Yang brings experience building agentic AI systems and years in large-scale systems, data infrastructure, and architecture. He has worked across advertising, storage, and data architecture, and focuses on converting AI from something impressive in demos into something dependable in production.
He co-owns Gehirn to help businesses adopt practical, production-ready AI systems grounded in strong engineering.

Hervald is a Delaware Public Benefit Corporation. The public benefit: AI agent infrastructure should augment organizations and their people, not replace them.
We deploy agents that handle operational work — data processing, document routing, scheduling, compliance monitoring — so teams focus on judgment, creativity, and relationships. The work that matters.
Pioneering Minds AI
Pioneering Minds AI is a nonprofit practitioner community in New York City, founded by Nick Gu. Members are operators, engineers, and founders building with AI agents.
Gehirn proudly supports the community’s operations with its proprietary agent platform, donated at no cost. The community hosts regular events and connects practitioners across the AI ecosystem.
